A prominent MLB insider gave baseball fans desperate to see the 2020 season get underway amid the coronavirus pandemic some good news on Monday, even if that news came with more questions than answers.
ESPN's Jeff Passan wrote that there will be something resembling an MLB season in 2020:
Nevertheless, Passan presented some positives and hope. The negatives? Passan adds that nothing is certain as of the final Monday of April regarding big league baseball. Ideas involving quarantining players and other team personnel away from families for months drew negative feedback from stars such as Houston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa, Los Angeles Angels slugger Mike Trout and Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw earlier this month.
Perhaps a 60-day tournament to determine a World Series winner -- something mentioned by Passan -- would appeal to individuals who otherwise would prefer to sit a shortened 2020 season out rather than risk playing during a potential second coronavirus wave.
As Passan wrote, MLB players who haven't yet cashed-in on significant paydays want to take the field this summer, in part, because "they've got bills to pay and skills to hone."
