They'd have to require 14 days out for anyone testing positive with no exceptions. You'd see a lot of minor leaguers playing; handicapping would be a nightmare.

But NHLPA team player reps, who voted Friday, were expected to thumbs-up a 24-team playoff format.

The setup was proposed by the NHL’s return-to-play committee, which includes top league and union executives and several prominent players. The top four teams in each conference would receive byes and warm up with a round-robin tournament, and the lower eight teams per conference have a play-in round for the final four spots. The play-in could be a round-robin, best-of-three, best-of-five or best-of-seven format.

I think the play in winners have a huge advantage in the first round series under this format
Personally I think a 6 team round robin with 4 advancing is better, the top 4 in each conference are essentially playing meaningless games
