Edward Snowden on CV & Freedom
Edward Snowden, the whistleblower who leaked information on America’s National Security Agency, has warned that governments may use the coronavirus to curtail freedoms.

Snowden, in an interview with Vice, said that governments may take advantage of the pandemic to impose authoritarian rules on populations.

Snowden said, “As authoritarianism spreads, as emergency laws proliferate, as we sacrifice our rights, we also sacrifice our capability to arrest the slide into a less liberal and less free world.

“Do you truly believe that when the first wave, this second wave, the 16th wave of the coronavirus is a long-forgotten memory, that these capabilities will not be kept? That these datasets will not be kept?”

        I don't blame them

These quarantines and shelter in place orders are for large cities and mass transit centers.

No reason a State like MI, IL, MN, etc should suffer in every county because of cases on Detroit, Chicago and Mpls.

It's a local issue if theres no buses/ trains/ cabs

I think they need large groups of really smart people to break it down county by county for many states, and create a time line and basae it on access to a hospital/vents and key industries

if we had done this a month ago, certain key hotspots in the rural wide open states like Iowa, Idaho, South Dakota, minnesota, Colorado, Pa could have just had counties that had these huge 3000+ food processing plants to take much higher precautions earlier while the rest of the state took it slow.

now we are going to see huge essential processing plants shut down over and over and over in the next few weeks.

we'll get a taste of what WWII rationing was like if we don't start getting proactive on this.

These Rural areas will not get hit as hard with sheer death numbers but the short term death of our Food supply chain effects everyone in the entire country.

NYC or Detroit ghetto deaths have ZERO effect on my day to day standard of living

Farmers are stuck with product with nowhere to sell or send it, its gonna get messy

I totally agree and yet we shut down the country because a bunch of NYC and Detroit ghetto rats and worthless old fukks get sick while 98% of the countries counties have no issues whatsoever.

Terrible politics. Same w sending stimulous money to SSI recipients who didn't lose a job or suffer economic ruin here.

Same w sending $20mm forgivable to Riths Chris whose only FT employees are executives and who's food options and prices serve absolutely ZERO public purpose or benefit.
