Seems like something written to get some clicks, nothing more. We are a very selfish country, let’s get that straight. We will not be shutting down until a vaccine is made that’s the bottom line. Even if the government orders it, eventually more and more people will start to rebel. 12-18 months? No way. People will not be listening to this order come June if it is still active and in the Midwest the weather is actually good for the 2-3 months we get. Too much talk about a vaccine that might never happen, the key is getting a treatment method for this thing. Think on a smaller scale, if they aren’t letting pro sports play in at minimum an empty stadium for 18 months, I guess that means there is no little league, beer leagues, high school sports for just as long. I think that is just unlikely as we are only a month into this thing and people are already antsy, try telling them they have to be in their house for 17 more months. Won’t happen.

Nothing is a sure thing but if they’re currently playing pro baseball games in Taiwan with no fans, MLB games with no fans in 3.5 months is probably not as unlikely as you think.

i just know the science part. hearing ppl talk about "fast tracked" vaccines is laughable. minimum 12 to 18 months for safety of vaccine because there are at minimum 3 levels of testing that have to occur: animals. small control group. larger group. the humans have to be tracked for at least one year to see how their immune systems react.

You still can have sports.College sports would be tough but with all other sports you can figure out a way to play with or with out fans later this year.But just don't have a true champion. If baseball Hockey and Nba start and finish the season just say they won the Nba Tournament for 2020 or Say Nhl Don't call them Stanley cup champion but 2020 Nhl champion.Then Comeback in 2021.

i agree but with testing largely unavailable to the masses i don't think the optics are good for athletes to get tested every day while average jane's and joe's cannot get tested even once. not a good look for the leagues, and believe me, they know this. PR is a big deal.
