My company is a supply chain company who saw this whole event coming. So being the ruthless assholes they are, they laid me off in the middle of February thinking they can hire me back at the end of April to continue to work for them. They have already called and asked for my return, I'm guessing the jokes on them because now I almost make what I did back when I worked for them on unemployment and for the next 4 months they can kiss my ass unless the increase the compensation. This whole pandemic is working out great for me, 4 months off to do things around the house in the summer months.

Yes. They can. It has to be caused by lack of work. If the company wants you back they can get the unemployment cut off.
