Disc - if you don't like the game or complete the game you can sell it (I've bought too many games I didn't like and wanted to rid of)

Download - if you download the game you can share with someone else on another console and also the purchase is always there to redownload if need be for any reason.

You can build one for 500 bucks that will play all of the current games. The trick is playing with a keyboard and mouse. You look like a dork doing it.

jj this is not how you get into e-sports. YOU DON"T NEED XBOX OR PLAYSTATION.

All major e-sports are played on PC. Most of them are free to play games.

Just download and install the games. Start watching full matches live or on you tube. Listen to the panel and commentators to slowly get into it. By the time you're starting to get it though real sports will be back and you'll probably conclude the limits are low and there is little edge in e-sports.

Although consoles run big tournaments as well, PC is where most of the big money & competition is traditionally.

However, PC players are not more talented.

A console/controller player can adapt and fare better when transitioning to PC, vs a PC player coming over to console/controller.

This is why many players on consoles try to cheat by figuring ways to hook up keyboard & mouse to use and compete against all others having to use a controler.

It is MUCH easier to maneuver and point & shoot at something with a mouse & keyboard, than it is a controller.
