#77Lkid of course you’re entitled to your opinion and I apologize for saying things about you personally. I have no ill will toward anyone here and in real life get along with just about anybody. I got 3 kids and I may own a business but I’m in the middle class and every move I make with my business impacts them so I make decisions with that at the forefront always. That said I have a meeting on Wednesday with my employees to discuss getting things back on track asap. None of them will be permanent lay offs. it was the right decision given the circumstances. They’ve all been with me for over 7 years and I take good care of them AND they’ve never been laid off before. This is different and the best thing for them as well as the business at the moment. But of course think what you will and sorry for the personal attack I just didn’t like how you assumed things in your posts but whatever all good.Comment -

#88Why not pay them on the books so they get health insurance and unemployment? If they got unemployment now they be getting more than they were working for you after the stimulus package added 600$ on top of what they get thru unemployment. Only reason a worker wouldn't wanna be on the books is if he owes back taxes or child support. In that case that not your problem. They only other reason you employees not on the books is you don't wanna pay payroll taxes ect.Comment -

#89Kid if your employees were on the books they be making much more take home now wth this unemployment benefits package! That is a fact..you saying you paying them outta pocket like you doing some great thing for them is just false! Lay them off and let them reap tge benefitsComment -

#91Look I was frustrated , because so many hurting
all my waitresses and bartenders friends especially
I’m able to pull in about about $2k a week still
but yes I’m paying my guys $400 a week , they normally make clear to 8
im not trying to start anything
So I promised them 90 days of $1200 a month
I don’t have a big operation
but dude said he pulling in 500k
It’s time to help out your people imo
they got families
and to the OP, your right
I’m a lot of things in this world
but the names you choose aren’t me
I just think small business should be digging deep
also to the OP,
you are right , im not the smartest business guy
but I am loyal
and I figure I can pay out $1200 x 5 employees ... $6k a month for 3 months
now that’s the guarantee I made it they don’t hit their hours
im not a rich man
heltah, is 100% right
I gave that option to each one and they choose their payment path
just simply feel the owners need to step up the plate
laying off is really the easy way out
albeit , sometimes 100% necessary...
but if it’s 99% , then I I’ll fight for themComment -

#92Lkid I think you misunderstood, but I'm not pulling in 500k into my own pocket. That is my annual sales. I'm in a 5000 square foot commercial facility... so I have overhead up that ass. I posted earlier in the thread that I make around 6 figures annually (100,000k) so you might of thought laying off wasn't a necessary thing to do, but maybe you weren't seeing the numbers correctly.
It sounds like we are in a similar labor situation nut I do have my employees on the books and pay paryoll and unemployment taxes... and as I said before, never laid anyone off before this, so it's not like I'm taking advantage of the system.
My goal with this thread was simply to provide posters with something real and interesting on the site during this crazy time. I'm love sports and throwing money down on a game when I can, but I got my priorities in order and know I'm not gonna be able to offer a lot of gambling advice to the forum... so when I have something to share like this it's sincerely to provide something more than just another garbage thread to the posters so maybe a few guys can learn something. Definitely not cry babying about shit... but you may have initially thought my situation was a bit better off than it really is... I'm confident anyway that I'll get through this stupid shit anyway.Comment -

#96It’s simple math. Are you paying them $400 a week or $300 a week? Or $400 a week and 1 week off a month?
Where did you come up with the 90 day obligation as most thought this would pass in a few weeks??Comment -

#100Update: Started thread on 3/21 so basically been 1 month. Total sales from 3/21 to date: $2079.88. Basically an order here and there but been closed for about 3 out of the 4 weeks.
Heading into this week, I am not expecting anything really to change on the catering end. The meal delivery service I've been planning is getting close, but taking a little longer to get website developed than I had hoped. I think May is the target anyway as that's when businesses will start to slowly get moving again.
Planning to send out an email blast for a Cinco De Mayo Catered Taco Bar to see if I can make some noise.
Fortunately got in on the ppp and eidl before the money went dry so expecting some funds to hit the biz account this week.
Feeling confident I will come out of this ahead.Comment -
