America has made it clear it is every man for themselves as far as world trade goes now.

But this sort of scramble for the last of the big oil dollars in the face of alternate energies was always going to come at some point anyway.

I think most of you guys know this but low oil prices are not good for the banking and investing sectors.

I'm not an expert in Wall Street and banking but I do know that the price of oil is getting near or even at the point where new oil wells are not profitable and the investors will not back it putting them out of business.

On the plus side the US economy is diverse so I'm not overly concerned.

Nasher, In Texas, the breakeven for fracking (Permian basin) is typically $45-50/bbl. A few of the most efficient/effective companies can drill if oil stays above $40. At or below that, forget it.

Not sure what the breakeven is for Marcellius in the Northeast.

problem is many of said fracking companies borrowed a shitload of money so they have a shitload outstanding debt.

i may be on the bread line soon. most of the oil companies my firm does work for will be going bankrupt, and unfortunately, we don't have a bankruptcy department. other attorneys have been tried to get us in bankruptcy to diversify when oil goes

up but hasn't happened.

the small players will be gone. and then the big boys will buy up all of the wells.
