it's very simple: bet on the game in any way form or fashion, and you don't get into the Hall.

if you bet ON your team to win, then you start to manage ONLY for that game and not for the betterment of your team over the course of a 162 game sched.

the baseball season is a marathon not a sprint, but if you are trying TOO HARD to win just that one game, by bringing in pitchers and making decisions based on just that ONE GAME, then you are actually hurting your team because you are making your pitchers less effective going forward because you are upping their pitch count.

this is why betting ON YOUR team is still unacceptable in baseball. 162 game marathon, not a sprint. sometimes you are down 8 to 1 in a game in the 7th inning and you should be making decisions to manage the entire season, not trying to win a wager by killing your pitching staff in a single regular season game scenario.
