No way he walks, this was contingent upon his reupping I'd have to think.
He leaves they get a supplemental pick only

He’s not Mike Trout but the next tier down.
The Red Sox still have an outstanding lineup without Mookie.
Let’s see if Pollock joins his old buddy JD Martinez.
Pollock when healthy has all the tools, defense and offense.
Speed too but that’s diminished some the past couple of years.

So Dodgers get Betts/Price
Twins get Maeda and decent Prospect Brusdar Graterol(sp?)
Somehow Angels will end up with Joc Pederson (for Luis Rengifo)
(gist from MLB traderumors)

Dodgers won 106 games last year without Mookie Betts. This team is going to be insanely good. All the more pressure for the playoffs though.
Red Sox weren’t going to resign Betts so the best they can do is getting Verdugo. If I was a Red Sox fan I’d be pissed. They are punting this season.

If Kershaw shows up they can do it. Their starters still are weak. Price sucks. Buehler’s great. Kershaw still good. Then it’s youngsters like Urias, May, Gonsolim.
Their lineup should score the most runs in baseball though.

Nah, they’ll tease the hell out of their fan base before finding a way to screw it up.

Price in the NL will be better.
Buehler is the key. He should become their ace.
Deal not worth it to me unless you know you are resigning Betts.

Dodgers win this trade, don’t see any reports that Lux is going to Boston in return. Win for LA

No Lux is staying put in LA.
So is Pollock.
Red Sox owner is dedicated to getting the team under the luxury cap.
He wouldn’t be in this situation if he didn’t overpay for Price (pardon the pun)
They paid too much for Sale to (pardon the pun again)
Yes pitching wins, and yes Sale is still a quality arm and a strikeout artist however Sale is no longer an elite, he’s not even a tier 1 starter, he’s on the back end of a brilliant career but will never be an elite again.
Now regarding the trade Sox management say the deal presented by LA was better than the deal presented by SD stating it was all about quality and not quantity.
It’s painfully obvious that the Sox are punting the 2020 season knowing full well they can’t compete with NY and all of a sudden Tampa has the potential to be a force right now.
Fear not Sox nation from what I read the Red Sox have a near future rebuilding plan and it looks solid on paper and even without Betts they still have a solid neucleus.
Oh by the way the Sox will still sell out Fenway like the Cubs sell out Wrigley and generate a gazillion dollars.

The General I tried to get you paid for your contest video(s), I feel that you deserve it.
It appears the Twins will keep Brusdar Graterol after all
Headline is Twins pull out.
After reading article, sounds like Boston pulled out, because the Twins prospect they were gonna get is not good enough(durability,Tommy John surgery)

Huge long term big $$$ contracts in MLB never work in the back end. (I know this is not news)
The list is endless of players getting paid and not winning a ring or sometimes not even making team better.
( I also realize, bigger market teams do need some stars to put people in seats )
Red Sox ownership group is reportedly worth 6.6 BILLION. Beers, Dogs , Parking and tickets are always at the pinnacle of the league. Attendance is always close to top. The fukkin ball park literally has zero room for one more sponsor ad. Fenway has turned into a Nascar vehicle.
As Nash said, Price and Sale were signed for too long (not too much). The Sox owners will make money no matter what. They could package all the bad contracts they want to get rid off, pay some of the $$$, and sign Betts for the money he wants. If they give him 40/8, he is only 36 at the end. Way better than 35/12 for the Sox. Then he is an old man still on the books.
This is why the NFL rules for fans/owners and product. NO guaranteed contracts.
