Jerry West would want Kobe to be the logo. He's like a son to him.
Not to mention, Kobe has had a bigger impact on basketball culture than Jordan. Jordan was massive and helped the NBA to take off, but Kobe took that to another level internationally. His ability to speak different languages, his ability to connect with all different cultures, really helped the league go into a different mode. He is deeply revered by past players and current ones as well.
Jordan has stayed out of the limelight. The best player ever, yes, but he doesn't contribute much to basketball culture. He is a very private guy.
Kobe wasn't just a basketball pioneer. He was a social pioneer. A philanthropist and a philosopher and his teachings are going to advance the game for decades to come. Jordan keeps info to himself, doesn't share it.

If a change was made then Jordan , and definitely not Lebron. But I don't see any reason to change it from Jerry West. History is History. The NBA denied the logo was Jerry West for a long time... they never wanted to individualize the logo. It's a symbol and stands for "NBA" not any one player. It's a classic symbol and there is a licensing issue I would imagine, since the NBA makes BILLIONS off of it right now.
Wouldn't Kobe's estate own his imaging rights? That would mean the NBA could no longer license it... NEVER HAPPEN.
