I don't buy in to the notion we have to know someone for their death to affect us. Hell, seeing the news and hearing of death can be a punch to the gut, even if I never heard of the person. I guess personally, I think "what about their family" and shit like that. I personalize to me, at times, and that can get emotional. If you are the kind of person where a random death doesn't affect you at all, other than in a negative light, than there are a lot of holes that need to be filled.

That said, although I doubt anyone on this board had known Kobe on a personal level, most of use have known about him, heard countless stories of what he did on the court, off the court, marriage, kids ... all that, so in a way, on some level, we do know him. It's not just some random dude who died. Plus it was sudden, and violent, and it involved a father who was hopeless in protecting his own daughter from danger.

Probably not the worst way to die.. When that Heli hit it blew up killing everyone instantly.. The fear of falling was probably nerve racking leading up until the final moment of impact and explosion..

Better then dying from cancer slowly or that new Coronavirus that's for sure... Just saying..

If I had to go I'd choose drowning myself but this might be a close second.. Plane crashes you do die instantly looking on the bright side..
