You painted a picture of a nation going fast to ruin. I'm saying it's easy to spin just about any one thing to a certain point of view, but it's hard to look all these other things like those that I referenced and say we are a nation moving fast to ruin.

I don't think you are understanding the quote. Stock market is doing great, profits are high, rich are getting richer, wealth gap getting greater. Problem is most of the stock market is owed by 10% of the people.

Wall Street is the fire sector. Has nothing to do with the economy of production & consumption that most of us depend on. Its a place for rich people to gamble, has nothing to do with GDP, but is counted as GDP. What Wall St. does is financial, most of it financial crimes. They extract rent from production & labor. Not all of it is scalping & stealing, but a good part of it is. This is why we need regulations.

From underwriting bond issues, and securing financing for large companies (that employ most of America) to do business, to creating ways for low income consumers to invest small $ for retirement in diversified portfolios.

I didn't say there's no place for Wall St. I understand the need for banking & finance. That's not that hard to understand. But what you don't understand is, that it needs to be regulated & taxed. Not so powerful that it can buy government officials elected by the people to do that taxing & regulation. Did you know that Citigroup gave Obama a list of approved cabinet members. Then we wonder why he bailed out the banks & not the people. So what this means is the financial institutions are running this country. A mix of corporations & government, also known as fascism.
