Watching the match, joker probably still wins but this impressive performance from shapovalov, haven't really followed his matches since the time he fukked me over at aus open against Tsonga up 2 sets and break to 0 or 1 sets can't remember but he has been huge all tournament so far, think youz has been great for him

Not sure who said that but Djokovic lost a deciding tb against Thiem in London at the very end of last year. But that's normal for Australian commentators to not know much about the sport outside of January.

On top of my head, against Nadal in Montreal (2013), but he doesn't lose many these days.

Just double checked, before the Thiem match in 2019, last time was indeed Montreal 2013, so 6 years without losing a deciding tie break. Impressive. And before that a loss to Isner in 2012.

Yeah thanks that was the one I was thinking off just unsure about year, Goffin and dimi both guys look like they might be gs contenders then disappeared, should of best rafa 20 minutes ago

Nice win goffin thought he was going to get nervous after being broken when he had chance to put rafa away, Rafa look tired and sluggish all match

Rafa definately looked flat for a lot of that match, not sure what the go was considering he started well, and then found a second wind to get that second set in to a tiebreak. A few uncharacteristic shanks and a double fault in the tiebreak, all on serve to lose the match. Some average serving in general as well
You could even tell that the crowd were a bit surprised as they were in silence for long periods there.

Make no mistake Goffin played exceptional though. Dropped concentration multiple times but Nadal showing the champion he is didn't give up easily. Hung in there mentally to get the win.

He knew he couldn't go toe to toe in every rally and changed a few things, even though it didn't work out every time. And the down the line shots factor that the commentators mentioned, short to long points was an important factor too.

A well deserved win.

Look at the H2H. Prior to today 2 on hard..both matches were competitive. On clay Goffin no chance

Deminaur has to play rafa right like they can't change match ups? Even rafa on his bad day will beat demon just a terrible match up for demon, great if he plays bautista

Yeah that's why people were speculating De Minaur playing doubles against Great Britain so that Hewitt would have an excuse to rest him against Spain and play Millman instead against Bautista who despite being less talented is a better match up for them.
More likely then not it was likely going to be 1-1 with doubles deciding it anyway.
