The New York Giants have requested permission to speak with former Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett.

Yes, the Giants have to request permission from the Cowboys because although Garrett has already been replaced by Mike McCarthy in Dallas he is still under contract to the team until Jan. 14. So, permission needed.

Turns out, though, that the Giants are not seeking Garrett as a head coach. With the hiring of Joe Judge for that job, the Giants are apparently seeking to discuss with Garrett the idea of him becoming offensive coordinator.
