Great call Canuck. I elevated my odds from 0% to "it could possibly win" once I saw it climb all the way to +200, but I'm still really surprised it won. There are a lot of glaring flaws in that movie, particularly when it comes to lazy writing, and there's really no precedent for a movie with that tone winning the big one, let alone obviously a foreign film. But again this was a precedent-breaker, like you said. Good call.

Wouldn't say I was "buried." I didn't bet Best Picture. I had Parasite to win Original Screenplay and Little Women to win Adapted Screenplay and profited on those bets. I also said Bong would win Best Director in this same thread. Canuck made a prediction that I disagreed with, he ended up being right, and I acknowledged it.

I also took little women for adapted screenplay. Looked like +180 odds on a coinflip to me. I only took parasite bc I thought Mendes is a petty narcissist. Only movie I saw this yr was the Irishman and it was a huge letdown. The awards is usually not about the best or most deserving anyway
