I wonder what the terms are? How much guaranteed? How many options years and who has the options.
Will need to find the details.

What a bad deal for the Yankees. It will be great for a few years but then???? It will be impossible to dump a guaranteed contract (if it is guaranteed) to another team later.

we have too many hitters that do not hit for average. hard to manufacture runs that way in the playoffs.
hoping he opts out after 5.

its baseball... all GTD.... player option after 5th year, no trade clause.

not a bad deal. Owners bring the whole payroll hit home with concessions alone, then throw in the revenue sharing... its a no brainer.

Cole will be nasty their especially wth that bullpen. Yanks rotation looks very good now wth Cole slotted in as the ace
The pact includes a full no-trade clause, according to Feinsand, and establishes new high marks in terms of total contract value for a free-agent starting pitcher and average annual value for any free agent ($36 million per year). Cole's deal surpasses the seven-year, $245 million agreement that right-hander Stephen Strasburg signed with the Nationals on Monday. Cole can opt out after the fifth year of the deal, per Feinsand.

SAN DIEGO -- More than a decade before throwing his first big league pitch, Gerrit Cole arched his 11-year-old frame over the right-field wall prior to Game 7 of the 2001 World Series, attempting to secure the attention of stars like Derek Jeter and Paul O'Neill by hoisting a hand-written

In NY you’re considered gay if a man likes women more than baseball.

Now there’s talk that the Red Sox are trading Betts, if so take away that 6 for 11 lifetime vs. Cole and now the Red Sox are only 16 for 60 lifetime (.267)
