Tie game Maryland going to the line for 2 FT with 2.1 seconds. Illinois has one TO. Maryland makes the first. Underwood calls a TO. Whaaaaat? So then Maryland misses the second on purpose and Illinois can't even get it to halfcourt for a shot.

Obviously he should have called the TO after the second shot, make or miss.

Mind-numbing idiocy.

And Illinois was winning solidly all game to choke it away at the end.

It really wasn’t that awful, most likely they lose regardless. Even if he saves the timeout, the chances of going full court in 2 seconds is almost impossible. He’s a great coach but obviously messed up there.

It was godawful. Sure, they probably don't win anyway, but it made zero sense. Probably went from a 10% chance to <1% with that call. It was really awful because there is no justifying it. Its not debatable. He wasted the timeout. Should have used it after the second FT. Gave Maryland a gift allowing them to intentionally miss the second.

He seems to be a good recruiter. He's not a good coach.
