    Let's talk gambling TAXES
    Who is a pro?

Do you actually deduct electricity/space of your house?

I deduct internet, computers, desk, keyboard [for self employment]

I might be missing out on the above though

As a caddy, you can deduct hotel, food, gas, when you go to an event to caddy

So i think im missing out on a ton of free things working from home as an independent contractor

    Anyone in the know?

    Anyone want to know?

Its not just for gambling....arent most self employed jobs the same in terms of taxes?? (thats not a statement, just a question)

I think you might have to fill out taxes as a pro gambler for the deductions?

So maybe not many fit that

But independent contractor....surely we have a few?

actually BigO, im sure youve played in some Tennessee PGA events

Maybe your club paid for expenses so it doesnt matter, but id assume you could write off hotel, cart fees, food for that week

everyone on tour does that...i wonder if different for club pro

I used to write-off every expense in State wide and mini tour events but that was in the late 80's to mid 90's. Tax code is a lot different now.

Never qualified for a major or tour event. Missed Monday qualifying by one shot two years in a row for the Memphis tournament.

Played in dozens of Mini tour events in Florida while I was a TN resident. Wrote off everything for those trips.
