There has to be some checks and balances in place each game and during the game to evaluate and correct referees calls.

I'm not referring to video replay but a internal video among refs to insure if a penalty is called its valed.

Hman is partially correct. The NFL has to get rid of their moronic "holier than thou" attitude that they allow the refs to get away with. They also need to simplify the rules. Make things clear cut. The refs are getting as dumb as the players are, and that is really dumb. The NFL will never admit to an error until AFTER the fact. That means AFTER the season ends. It is difficult enough trying to pick a winner between two teams, but when you have a third team enter (the refs), a team that easily controls the rhythm and flow of the game, picking a winner becomes next to impossible. It becomes nothing more than a coin toss at -110.

What makes their horrible officiating even worse is the something like 21 of 22 pass interference challenges in which many were clear interference, that they refused to reverse because they have too much pride.

Blatant ignoring of the rules that needs addressed by the league.

another solution is to make the refs full time employees. then when the offseason comes, put them in training classes to make sure they stay sharp and are all on the same page.

You make a good point about making ref's full time employees. This argument has been going on for many years now. All of these ref's have full time jobs, and get together on the weekends to run a game. They decide what they did wrong in the previous week and go totlly overboard to correct the problem. Unfortunately you will never see ref's become full time employees. The NFL cares about money, and ONLY money. It is becoming harder and harder for them to make money. There is no way they are going to pay more out.

same ref threw both penalties against flowers and they were pretty late, they will probably changes the rules next year that u can challenge more penalties and any penalty under 2 mins can automatically be reviewed

Would it matter? Even the obvious penalties being challenged aren't being overturned.

They did everything they could to look past GB's own flags.....too many on field....delay of game....the PI....ect.....they helped packers ALL GAME....but when he dropped the punt....then ball off his facemask for int....the GUY HAD TO MAKE THEM UP.......they did all they could and STILL couldn't get the result they needed -so they went full retard and did it in everyone's FACE......disgusting IMO..... such a sour taste and its not even about the $.....cant trust the game-its like boxing

The pass interference review rule will be OUT for the 2020 season. They just wanted to do something this year to calm everyone down from the Saints game.

Let's face it... games are rigged.... there's a reason why it's called..... and why it's not called. That goes for any penalty.

PI 15 yards like college

refs want team A to win. team A is down 4 points late... they move the ball to the 30. they are struggling. 3rd and long, they chuck it deep for a bomb... defender plays it clean and turns head to play ball and defends his territory (safety deep) at the 2 yard line. refs call PI automatic first down for team A at the 2 yard line. A TD is now almost inevitable. it's that easy

defensive battle. team B is gaining momentum in a low scoring tied game early 4th Q with good runs. team B brakes off a 15 yard dash to move to long FG range of opponent. clean blocking. late flag comes out. Holding is called which they can pretty much all whenever they please. back team B up 15 yards + 10 penalty yards and 1st and 20 now. almost always a drive killer. even worse if it is called on a 2nd down and say... 9. drive now stalls as team B is forced to make new play calls that are less effective. team B punts to team A who now has momentum and the ball in a low scoring game. team A ends up scoring a TD and the game is effectively over as the refs will allow team A to hold and commit PI vs team B to stop them again and effectively end the game.

my paragraph above basically describes some events that occurred in the Saints/Rams playoff game and then the SB vs Patriots. both games had desired outcomes for the league.

Football CANNOT be officiated in real time. The amount of calls the officials get wrong proves this. Too often a play has to be reviewed on video to determine what just exactly happened as its just impossible to see what needs to be seen with the naked eye. Then these guys watch the video replay looking for a blade of grass moving or a toe touching the line or an elbow down before the ball comes loose etc. Its unbearable.

Also, with the amount of players on the field and so many rules in the game it seems impossible to go any length of time without a flag or missed call. I keep learning the rules as something in a game triggers a call for some situation I've never heard of.

Officiating and the lack of accuracy by the officials that creates long timeouts to determine the result of a play has made the game absolutely impossible to watch without a lot of frustration.

Football is by far the worst officiated sport and I don't blame the refs. The refs have an impossible task and absolutely cannot get it right all the time, not even close.
