yes, the higher that throw is in that situation... the more you open yourself up for an incomplete pass/pick/ball tipped up into the air as both guys grab for it at the same time and defender around them easily snags him a pick

they proceeded to hike with 8 seconds left on a running clock and threw an inside slant into the heart of a man to man coverage defense... and the ball ended up bouncing into the air as guys all grabbed for the catch and it was picked off...
earlier in the game they had a first and goal on the 1 after a penalty and they threw the ball 4 times in a row incomplete...
