#40Mismatch? No.
Braves have the hitting, Cards have the pitching.
Whatever edge Atlanta has in the hitting department gets nullified by their poor pitching.
But Atlanta's bullpen has been pitching better as of late, however their 'pen is still leaky.
Leaving Tehran off the roster for bench depth is a head scratcher, but I'm not a GM so what do I know.
It would behoove Keuchel to best Mikolas this afternoon because I don't see Folty beating Flats in game 2.
If the Cards win this afternoon the Braves could be down 0-2 come Sunday.
The Braves best chance of winning today's Game 1 is if the right handed hitters get to Mikolas. (Freeman is a LH batter but owns Mikolas)
Mikolas likes to use that slider of his and the Braves have a couple of hitters than can hit sliders, especially Donaldson. Mikolas needs to keep JD in the yard.
Even though Keuchel owns Goldy, Goldy is heating up, he had a nice September, and despite Keuchel's success vs. Goldy, Goldy can hit LHP (9HR's) .267
Their wonder boy Edman smacks LHP. Molina is like the energizer bunny rabbit, he just keep going, and yes he like the LHP too, and so does Wong and he bats from the left side.
I see the Braves start six right handed batters this afternoon. (yeah I know Albies is a switch hitter but I bet 'ya he enters the batters bos as a LH batter)
Like I said the two righties are the key (Acuna and Donaldson) they like to swing at sliders.
The key for the Cards today is to get to Keuchel early, get Mikolas out of there with a lead and let that 'pen take care of business.
Should be a good one.
Regarding the series, good pitching usually beats good hitting.
Cards in 5 games.

#44Everyone knows that the Braves have the hitting edge, and the Cards have the pitching edge. The Braves also played in a better Division than the Cards did. It won't make much difference, because in the long run, neither one of these teams can touch the Dodgers. I will play the "Over-Under" game today. Braves-Cards over 8 1/2 and the Dodgers-Nats under 7 1/2. The Football will be much better, to be honest.Comment -

#47If cards can steal gm 1 they absolutely win this series. I’m not real confident in them today tho, don’t trust mikolas at all vs this lineup. Just gotta hope cards bats show up if they have any shot here. I actually lean Braves -1.5, dont love giving the 1.5 runs w home team but in a game I think high scoring makes some sense, plus I’d have no interest laying any juice if it was a 1 run game.
As we discussed days ago I played the over at open. Gl nasher, really hope you cash this one!!!Comment -

#60Miko so inconsistent so far.
The good news is Cards down 0-1
If Miko can keep this at 0-1 through five or tied I really like the Cards chances, if Wong doesn't have anymore brain farts and picks up the ball and throws it like he was taught.Comment -

#64Glad it worked out. The over not looking so hot here. Cards offense continues to suck and Braves missed their chance for big innings early. Longer this goes low scoring the more i like cards chances.Comment -

#70This.
The art of the hit and run is dead as well.
Back in the day half of the MLB teams had a hit and run artist in the lineup.
That lineup was usually built like this.
Your speed merchant would lead off.
Your #2 guy would be your stick man, you know the hitter you can trust to shoot the vacated hole between first and second base if you put the lead off man in motion. The perfect pitch count to do this would be 1-0 or 2-1 (no chance for a pitch ou
The meat of the order (3-4-5) would be your RBI and power guys.
The six hole would be a managers option.
The seventh position would be your catcher unless he was special, like Johnny Bench special
The eighth spot was your slick fielding no hit middle infielder. Ninth would be the catcher.Comment
