Actually, he's pulling off of 7 and then onto and off of 8 then onto 9.

Basically, 12 different numbers account for nearly half of all margins of victory over the last 15 years in Football Bowl Subdivision play only.

You can probably guess that 7 is a pretty common margin of victory, and it is, but just a outside of those 12 numbers and really not very far away from the frequency of those 12 is the margin of victory of 8.

While 9 is further down the list you can still stack the percentage.

But 7 and 8 alone will get one pretty far, if his handicapping is worth anything and he knows how to incorporate the numbers.

Short term he might be on to something but it takes special capping to be able to account for the price of coming off the 7 in the marketplace over many plays.

Because everyone knows how common 3 and 7 are, it's usually a rip off to move on and off of them.
