Legalizing Sportsbetting in the U.S. going to cause more problems?
Im interested in seeing what others think.

Not naming names here, but what got me thinking is seeing an uprise just within the forum of sportsbetting starting to have serious negative impact on peoples lives.

Will the more mainstream access to betting lead to a big problem? Even last year I noticed main sports channels and shows talking about o/u and spreads so I thought this stream of legalization might be coming. Even in my red state of NC its here and we normally cant have anything that goes against traditional values.

I know even when I was in local poker games in my late teens here I would see people stopping in, blowing their rent or grocery money, or both. and be asking for loans to cover that before they left.

If any random person can log in with a government supported site or shops set up or every casino taking bets, how many people are going to see their lives ruined?

I know Ive been lucky in the fact that I am lifetime positive somehow, even with this season killing me so far, but I honestly dont know how big of a hole I would dig into the negative trying to get out. It has to be a whole different mindset on that side of things.

Of course now that uncle sam will be seeing profits from this no way it gets reversed, but how bad does this get?

Think it depends. Offshore betting way more dangerous for me than in person betting ever was. I can put thousands on a credit card offshore without even thinking about it, but physically pulling cash out of my pocket I have a tough time doing. I'll click buttons and have a nice credit card bill waiting for me without giving 2 shits about it, but i cringe pulling out $10 to get my Firehouse sub.

Online gambling is available now with electronic deposit in US. Gaming commission and casinos watch losses and maybe that will make a difference for some, sometimes. Maybe for some.
