A source told ESPN's Brian Windhorst that James' team has no firm plans for the term but wants to keep all business opportunities open.
James isn't alone in requesting to trademark the term "Taco Tuesday." A search of the USPTO website yields 29 results, many of them no longer active. Other services listed by companies requesting the term are for electrical appliances, clothing and -- of course -- food.
In fact, the restaurant chain Taco John's -- which has a corporate office in Wyoming -- had a trademark on the term "Taco Tuesday" for restaurant services as far back as 1989.Comment -

James is an ahole for so many other reasons, including the video above, the fake fence slurs, some bullshit surrounding his Cle school, etc. I didn't get into the NBA, but that's all acting and drama, that's stuff isn't real.
Big business celebrities always trying to trademark phrases they know they didn't invent. Confusing the two might be savvy business attempt, but also reveals a little something about the celebrity. You didn't popularize it, you just filed to steal it from the rest of the world, for eventual financial gain.
He's LeBron James and he could use the phrase "Taco Tuesday" for free to make bank, using his name, or a partner's, in so many different ways but the arrogant prick wants to seal it off for himself like he owns the right's to it. Locking up pop culture catch phrases like they are websites pretty much shouldn't be allowed.
It's one thing to sit around with his pals smoking blunts being like "what can I own today, how about Taco Tuesday?"
Then actually going out and trying to do it because he screamed it in a youtube video; it feels like he thinks he popularized it for fuksake.
Feels like he'd apply for the Patent if he didn't have a lawyer to tell him otherwise.
