Going to Vegas for week 1, tips?
Will be in Vegas for the weekend of 9/6, also coinciding with the first NFL Sunday. Haven't been since I was a kid so any tips would be much appreciated. Due to budget and availability, staying either at Bally's, Luxor, NY NY, or Harrah's. Any of those hotels better than others? Maybe some others I'm missing but not looking to spend $300+ per night.

Where is the best sportsbook (more interested in atmosphere) for 10AM Sunday morning when the season kicks off? Any buffets or food options that are must try?

Appreciate any tips, I know a lot of you guys have been many times. I'm sure there have been threads on this but searching 'vegas' doesn't give me too much.

    Cheers

Try to sign up for as many apps as possible.
Have a $1.25 hot dog or two at South Point.........plus unlimited drink tickets there for well drinks and domestic beers.
    Great viewing options abound
Be leary of late night whores.
The best buffet options are the WYNN, BELLAGIO, CAESARS, COSMO..........i would choose the WYNN

Be aware that the hotels are going to charge you big time for your room. They will tack on a resort fee, which can range from $25.00 to $50.00 per night and more, in some cases. You are going to spend big time if you are staying for a Friday and.or Saturday Night. The South Point is OK, for a 3rd rate hotel. If all you are concerned about is football wagering, one hotel is as good as another. Are you taking a lady with you? If so, the price just doubled. I happen to think that Caesars and the Bellagio are far superior to the Wynn in just about every respect, but that is my opinion. If you have to be leary of the working girls, you are in the wrong place. Have a great time, and do not get suckered into losing everything. It is very easy to do there, especially if you do not visit often. By the way, the new rules for some table games are generally speaking, screwed.

The SOUTH POINT not a 3rd rate hotel

Some of the best STANDARD rooms in Vegas, and at a reasonable price.

Also, a very good place for the savvy gambler, they give you a fair shake in many respects there.

Yes, many strip hotels grander and fancier , one can VISIT those

I'm booking through Expedia and they do mention a $40 daily resort fee. What a racket. I am taking my girl with me, so it obviously will be a different experience than if I was going with my buddies. I don't play slots or table games, just sports betting. Bringing just a small budget for that.

            Appreciate the South Point suggestion.

I'd prefer Harrah's out of those 4 just because of the location. I haven't stayed at the Linq in it's current iteration, but the location is good and looks to be about 30-50/night cheaper than the options you mentioned. It's got a great set up for watching games too. Good place to play pit games on a budget too. Close to everything.

I like the Wynn Sportsbook but it's a trek. All of the buffet's that fishhead mentioned are top notch.

Yardbird is a spot I hit almost every trip - it's over in Venitian/Palazzo. There's a spot over there called Sugarcane Raw Bar - last time I was vefas I ate there and it was excellent. The scallops were seriously probably the best I have ever had.

People always tell me to hit Taco's Gordo but I haven't been yet. Check it out for cheap eats.

                Have fun.

Will be there the same weekend (staying at the Venetian). Meeting up with an old Navy bud for opening weekend. Also have tix to see Def Leppard that weekend. Yes we are old fuks that like our 80’s metal.

                              Should be a great weekend.

My tip is if you and your lady like to drink, then hit Total Wine by the airport and they will have anything you want. Sure you can get free drinks on the strip, but it’s nice to have some good stuff in your room. Have fun.

                                      Sportsbooks early
                                      Go with somebody
Somebody will take your seat, if you don't have somebody watching it.
Download the casino`s app on your phone, unless you like long lines.

Personally I've lived here for almost 6 years and I will not watch NFL Sunday football at the casinos again because they're too busy.

But since your visit today it is it okay idea to go to the Sportsbook just to see what the atmosphere looks like because there are a lot of people there.

However for me I'm just tired of it, but then again I'm not a tourist

You have to download the app of the sportsbook you are going to watch the game. Long lines are a pain and you can bet right off your app!! Get there early if yo want a seat!!

You will not find anything really nice unless your 5-6 a night my nice standards might be different then others but I have never been 2 impressed unless I spend over 5 in a hotel even then nothing to write home about.....the stars mean nothing 4-5 stars I’d prefer the newest hotel you can find. It will have the newest rooms Vegas is a dirty fukin place. I remember spending quite a bit once for a suite lmao it was dirty as fuk. Just go to the west gate man fuk it. Have fun avoid the buffets they are for tourist. Lowest quality of all foods honestly, most Native American Casinos are nicer.

We are doing a Cali road trip, starting in SF, driving down to LA, finishing off the trip in Vegas. Timed out well enough that we can hit a Dodger, Giants, and Angels game while we’re there. Should be pretty fun, then ending the trip in Vegas. We are total tourists and don’t need the fanciest hotel nor will we be gambling much. Just something not far from the strip with a pool, good food options and walkable to other things.
