I don't think she really dropped off. Kerber was never very talented to begin with, it's just the state of women's tennis has been so poor that it allowed someone like her to become #1. Even now, I'd say there's very little star power at the top.

Women’s tennis is evolving into the bigger woman usually wins era. Look at the guns on the top women. Their hitting forearm is bigger than their off arm. That use to be only with men.

Sharapova was undermatched because she was under weight. Serena was bigger and better at everything in that match. Sharapova can’t do anything better than Serena. She needs to pack on some muscle if she wants to compete, else call it quits. She ain’t winning any more titles with that flat chest and butt.
