    Pga tour championship
Championship kicks off in Atlanta tomorrow, field is loaded with 30 stout golfers, leader board is staggered to start the tourney with JT @ -10 filtered down to a handful starting at even, I think there's some value down the leaderboard. My guy all year has been Keopka, and being within 2 shots of the lead on a Thursday is perfect for him, he's at around +500 probably due to his last two outings ...no worries though, he's a big stage guy. Two more guys I like are Matsu and Webb....Matsu is a top five hound at Eastlake and once about a time was tearing up the PGA, guy shot 63 last week....not once, but twice !!!! yeah, he middled it with a 73, but two 63's says he can easily be the guy on Sunday...and @ +3300 ...I say why not? Webb is just a stud, he don't look like much but he's always hangin around, low fanfare, just grinding out Eagles and birdies and hanging around the top of the leaderboard, especially in big tourneys...@ +2200 I'll have some on him.....NOTE: only the top 4 golfers starting Thursday are under +1500, DJ is at +2500....this guy is probably the most talented golfer in the field, and could easily win this thing. Imo, odds are this way because of the unique format, normally you would see these type of odds on Saturday where the tournament has more than likely been whittled down to just a few possible winners, but here these guys have 4 rounds to make up the stagger....JT had a 6 shot lead on Sunday last week, and if not for a couple missed opportunities by Cantley, would have been sweating bullets on the 18th tee box....DJ made a run at Koepka earlier in the year from 8 strokes back, again, this just on the weekend.....these guys have 4 days!! Not saying that JT or any of the other top 4 guys under 10-1 won't win it, but I am saying that you WILL see guys below them making a charge.
SBR sportsbook has also been kind enough to post Championship odds (first time in awhile on PGA), so that's a bonus.

Disclosure: I 'chase' PGA tournaments, usually pick a couple dogs on Thursday, then hit the big boys that have had a bad round or two...it's really hard for these guys to play with a big lead, and they are definitely not used to having a lead going into Thursday, should be a great tournament with this format....15 million to the winner, I expect that will keep just about everyone motivated. I also parlay golf with nascar, generally only have a handful of legit nascar contenders each week, but hit or miss with 5D allowing the parlays, take a 25-1 golfer and a 5-1 nascar guy - $25 nets about $2500....

    Apologies for the novel -

Golf is a dying sport. Tiger is finished. His back and his head just will not cooperate. There are no real names in the sport. NO one to attract people. A round of golf for the average duffer is getting to be very expensive. It also is a very boring sport. Like baseball, way too much time in between swings (or pitches, in BB).

Generally I'd agree, but several guys at the bottom have that ability to go very low and make up that gap in 4 days..not likely with this field, but Louis Ooos, Dechamb., and Fleetwood are all capable of consecutive low rounds.....good long shot picks for a few bucks.
I'm not a big stats guy but just a few numbers that may keep more than the top 5 guys on your radar....The Players - Pepperell 8 behind Rory after 2 days, lost by 2.....Masters - Cantlay 8 behind Tiger after 2 days, lost by 3.....'British' Open Rose only 2 shots off the lead after two rounds, loses by 14....PGA Champ. DJ makes up 6 strokes on Koepka.... Just sayin that I don't think anyone is going to run away from this field....and if it is I hope it's Koepka !!

Not true! Field is stacked, winner could easily come from anywhere inside of the top 15, and possibly outside of that. I don't think Billy 'Hoyle' (Horschel) was exactly an odds on fav back in '14.....this year is the first year where everyone knows exactly what they're chasing on Thursday...it will make a difference.

Great day of golf!! I didn't expect the field to bunch up like it did, kinda expected to see a rabbit take off, but makes for a great next 3 days for sure!! I got no take on it from here on out, all of my value was based on the unique format and the fact that the difference between the top tier golfers lies between their ears...but who knows what guys are thinkn now that it's bunched up....a crapshoot if you ask me. I do like the fact that they offered me 5-1 on Koepka being the first round leader, I also like that Matsu is hanging around....odds aren't reposted on dimes yet, but I suspect they'll be pretty shitty unless you take a flyer down the board....I was really impressed with Kuch and X today, and I ain't got a dime on either of them :/

Hell Yeah!! Matsu making a run wouldn't disappoint me either. I think there's gonna be quite a few twists and turns over the next 3 days, that Bermuda rough is nasty but the greens are going to be the deciding factor, they're already like ice and I can imagine the pga is not going to play nice when it comes to pin placement, I think they want to keep this field tight....going to be great to watch. I did get a little hedge down on guys that are 20-1 or better, Kuch was rolling em nice yesterday and Rahm will hang around imo.

DJ at 400-1....absolutely NO shot to win!! played a horrible round yesterday...10 shots back! guy just can't get his head in the game, but when he is locked on he's as good as anyone. So why not for 10 bucks? cheap vacation if he goes nuts over the next 3 days.

As a fan, I hope it comes down to an eagle on 18 come Sunday....but then again, if Koepka stretches it out tomorrow I won't be too disappointed. It's still not unfathomable that the winner could come from outside of the top 3, but I'm done long shot hunting for now.
