MGM Resorts announces resort fee increases for Aria, Bellagio and Vdara. Now $51

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -- MGM Resorts International announced three Las Vegas Strip properties would see an increase of $6 in resort fees based on local and nationwide market prices.

According to a statement from MGM, Aria Resort & Casino, Bellagio Hotel and Casino, and Vdara Hotel and Spa adjusted their respective resort fees from $39 to $45, matching the fees already in place at Wynn Las Vegas, The Venetian and The Palazzo.

MGM announced the resort fee increases on August 1. The total resort fee for all three properties, after taxes, is $51.02.

"We are constantly evaluating prices to ensure they properly reflect the business landscape and the services and amenities they support," said Brian Ahren, director of corporate media relations at MGM.

The resort fees are bundle services and amenities that are often requested by guests and may be expected as part of their stay. The resort fees are stated at the beginning of the booking process, and are separately itemized before guests book their stay.

The fee adjustments were based on local and nationwide marketplace prices, including bundled costs of amenities and services that are included as part of a guest's stay.

Then they wonder why revenues are down. A lot of people who take their first Vegas vacation don't even know about these hidden fees, and are pissed off when they show up and get their bill. It's not a way to encourage repeat customers.

In the mid to late 90’s I got comped a full week at the MGM on my spring break as a teacher for playing $25 blackjack. I couldn’t get comped a buffet now for playing the same amount of time.

Its simply a way to keep existing Profits with fewer customers .
                Its basic math
Initially, there were 8 customers , they paid $300 per night for a week totalling $16,800 .
Now , only 7 customers, less people traveling , these fees actually made up the loss of that 8th person saying fukk it , im done . Now the 7 customers pay $342.86 per night . They still make $16,800 with less consumers and continue on with the same profit margin.
