Actually in extreme cases of addiction. The brain has been hijacked via the dopamine rewards system and will power alone cannot help

Addiction creates new neuropathies in the brain. So it’s really impossible to quit unless you work towards reshaping the brain. Some shit like that. My doctor explained it all to me. I only picked up on a bit of it. But basically we create a new pathway that can’t be beat just by quitting. You have to use medication, counseling, therapy, AA/GA to reshape the pathway.
