So last year was my 1st. I spent Dec/ half Jan there in Jaco and Manuel Antonio.

1- get out of San Jose. Go to Tamarindo area or Jaco

2- 2 ways to lodge.either Airbnb and make a deal. Or do local hotel/ hostel. Hostel is cheap ($10/ nite, but dirty), I got a month at a small hotel 1 block off beach for $1600. You shop around and stuff that's locally owned and a block off the beach is best value. Cash maybe better deals. Stay out of chains.

3- rent a car at airport. 30 days will run ya 700 bucks but its freedom. Drive down coast and bounce around. Drive to Panama, etc

4- gamble in Jaco. Bookmaker kiosk and mobile set up at Cocal

5- Ticas are $100 for sex at 1st. I got to know all them, was hitting 2 and sometimes 3 a day so price dropped to 50 real quick. This is where it adds up...if you're spending 200 a day on sex you better win at casino or bring lots of cash. Theres small chance you bang random broads as most are travelling w sig other. Non whore Tica is possible if you get to know her, but they will play hard to get if they think u are just a drunk American douche.

Bottom line, for 45-60 days in CR I'm planning on $10k but I know that if I applied myself I could do it for under $5k ($100/day) and still eat like a champ
