somewhat. if you send them a lot of money eventually they will make deals with your creditors and pay them maybe 12-15% of your debt which creditors gleefully take since they can only get 6% max from a collection agency. so you pay maybe 35 to 40% and they keep the rest. your credit rating barely goes up but you are not bothered any more with collection calls. you could negotiate yourself with the creditors for about 22%.
