It is used for back of the rotation guys (can't get more "backer" of rotation than Edwin and Milone). Theory is they face the bottom of the lineup when they first enter the game, theoretically helping them get off to a good start and the fact that the top of the order did not see them yet should allow them to work deeper into the game.
