I got my strikeout prop voided on Mengden because Oakland decided to use an "Opener" to start the game for the first inning. I understand why the "Must Start" rule is there.....but this shouldn't be used for it. He was still scheduled to pitch.
"Openers" are a problem for betting baseball.

#2I hear you. But in books eyes, there is no such thing as "scheduled to pitch", as after starter/opener, manager is not mandated to bring in guy that was "scheduled to pitch" if he changes his mind.Comment -

#3Betonline has a big problem with these because they've been voiding all bets that feature an opener. Even though they use the verbiage "must pitch" instead of "must start"Comment -

#5Originally posted by BluehorseshoeI wonder what they would do if a manager didn't state he was using a pitcher for one inning. There's nothing that says he has to. There are guys in the bullpen who can go 5.Comment -

Need to wait until game time... to know who's going to throw or not. Options limited.

yeah I personally think this trend of “Openers” is bad for baseball and so is the shift
just go back to playing normal baseball
blame the Rays for destroying a great gameComment -

#11blame the Tampa Bay Rays for starting this trend last year. it was a novel idea but it worked for them.. almost had a shot at a wildcard . now other teams playing copycatComment -

#13Baseball wears fans out. aAt least some scoring lately but these 2-0 games that go to the 15th inning are just agonizing. Game is watered down with too many teams and the odd player with half billion dollar contracts make the average joe hate the game out of spite.Comment -

Last year when Tampa started doing this they seemed to always know it was going to be an opener. Teams either need to be held to that standard or the books need to adapt.Comment -

#17No need to list starting pitchers. Teams should be allowed to start whoever they want without advanced notice. A soccer coach doesn't announce the lineup the day before. You don't need to give the opposing manager time to adjust his squad.Comment -

#20I laughed at this for a little while, but now you have teams throwing openers for the starters at the last minute. Bets being voided is a problem. Sites should have a clear policy.Comment -
