From a legal perspective he has no case.

There are 2 standards for signs being adequate - procedural and substantive standards. Did the sign give adequate notice and was the notice stated in such a way that a reasonable person should have seen it. The Signs were clearly up in the casino, they weren't hidden in small writing. I think William Hill should compromise and pay around 2-300k since they did take the bet but legally they owe him nothing.

They should have cap payout wrote at ticket.
If maximum payout is 20k for example then 20k should be written as payout, not 460k.

They owe him nothing BUT for marketing esp since many states are legalizing it would be a great marketing ploy to pay him something more as coverage would be very valuable for name recognition and branding in usa....

If the odds are too good to be true always check the fineprint for the payout.

This is a such a non story. Forever, over a century, "non parimutuel" racebooks have operated exactly as WH(yes, world's worst mega book) in this case-with caps and limits. Always. Anyone disputing this is a total horse noob. No insult meant, but this is Saloon fodder. In fact, sharp bettors know which books have the highest limits before electing where to bet. And also because limits vary by racetrack. Nevada allowed books to choose if they wanted to go parimutuel in the '90s, not all have.

The player&lawyer know WH have deep pockets and don't want negative publicity... So hoping for a gift.
This will never go to trial because no Gaming Commission or judge in Nevada would grant relief. Hence no lawyer would go to trial on contingency basis. Client would be expected to front all costs and fees, and lawyer would need to be very hungry \ not too bright \ have lots of disposable time.

William Hill is rated as an A+ on SBR....

If I got stiffed out of 600k, I don't know what I'd do.

There is no dollar cap, there is an odds cap. And there is no payout written on ticket for horse wagers (other than fixed futures) because payout is unknown,

Whats really interesting is the guy who made the bets is an opthamologist that didn't read the fine print, LOL.

                                  He couldn't read the sign?

He should have contacted ATC who could have given him a $695.00 eye exam and then sell him a pair of $800 glasses that you can get at Walmart for $14.95.
