Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes are dominant here. A merc has won the race from pole 4 of the last 5 years.

Verstappen in a red bull broke the streak in 2016 but I don't think his car has the legs to challenge for the win this year.

Ferrari looked best on this track during winter testing, and should give Merc a challenge but I'm expecting after 4 races now Merc are sorted and will resume normal activity.


Odds are kind of rubbish on Lewis, around +140 to win, and only +170 for both Pole and Race win.

So no use betting him early.

But Merc are usually on a program that sees them run fast lap times in Practice 1, so I am going to get started with that this weekend.

Further down the field, I think Torro Rosso should go well on this track with their high downforce happy design.

Alexander Albon (Toro Rosso) +175 for top 10.



With the new fastest lap rules this year, the car has to finish top 10 to have a shot at it. So the favorites should take it most races. But I still see value in the huge odds offered for cars with a good chance to finish 7th to 10th.

They only have to have a 30 second gap behind them to make it worthwhile to pit with 3 laps to go and steal th fastest lap on new tires without losing a spot.

Qualifying is 9.00am Saturday.

And 2nd practice is coming up soon at 9.00am today.

Unfortunately practice 1 today was cut short by a wreck and a bunch of cars did not set fast times. And my bet lost. I will be taking Hamilton again for Practice 2 though.

True. But it's way less likely to happen with the point incentive now.

And even if someone who holds it wrecks late, it will still be one of the top 10 fastest cars we are betting on I think.

Just can't see it happening often enough to factor in.

Had a huge mothers day family event here today. Only just got back before race start.


Only bets I added to those posted up top were for Magnussen and Grosjean to set fastest lap 50/1 each.

Liking the early Albon and Kvyat fastest lap bets at 250/1 right now too.

Albon Top 10 +175 my main bet also looking good for now.

Ugly end for me. Albon could not snatch 10th an save trhe day for me.

And none of the longshot fast lap scenarios came to pass. The late safety car wrecked any chances for the longshots this time :\

No, the only race I have seen live is the Australian GP.

Plan to do a Europe trip next year to line up with a race though. Probably Silverstone.


And yeah, it is crazy they have dominated every race like that. Casual fans think Lewis and Merc have been unbeatable for years. But they have never dominated first 5 races like this (results wise) and really Ferrari have looked stronger on 2 or 3 of those tracks but manage to stuff something up every race.

Try real hard to get into F1. Respect the drivers and the culture.... but penetrate me, when one guy leads the entire race after turn 1 I find it hard to keep interest.
