but i have no idea why teams voluntarily give huge extensions to players at the start of the season. why not wait until a quarter of the way through the season? or at least a few good games?... seems like it would easily cut the risk of these huge contracts. and of course, as i said, voluntarily giving them to your own players

his ERA for the last 2 games is 3.00.... vs. 8.50 before those games......... 18 strikeouts last 2 games vs. 14 in 4 starts before that.

i too saw the opposing team jump out to that lead yesterday and thought "here we go again"...
