He's already getting away with a bump / push off and the extra jitter step(backward), so they ain't gonna let him do that and still be able to reserve extra space to cleanly flop forward / stick out a leg to draw contact midair. Especially with the extra playoff focus now. That's why you saw repeated no calls after tangling / landing on defender.
