A computer engineer, his wife and his mother were brought from Spain to face criminal proceedings in Costa Rica for the kidnapping of American William Sean Creighton Kopko, owner of a sportsbook in the country.
The information was released this Friday by the Public Ministry that managed the extradition of the surname professional Morales Vega and the two relatives, surnamed Solís Chaves (wife) and Vega Aguirre (mother), who were arrested in Spain, last January.
From 8 am on this Friday, a preliminary hearing is held on the case in the Criminal Court of Goicoechea, in which the accusing body of the State requests precautionary measures.
"The Deputy Prosecutor's Office against Drug Trafficking and Related Offenses reported that it has already taken the preliminary statement of the three accused; the hearing for the request for precautionary measures is scheduled to be held at 8:00 am on Friday, in the Criminal Court of the Second Judicial Circuit of San José, "explained the statement of the Public Ministry.
The kidnapping of Creighton occurred on the night of September 24, 2018, after the victim, who owns the sportsbook 5Dimes - whose offices are in the Equuos building in Montes de Oca - returned from Curridabat after leaving a colleague work.

The offended was intercepted by two traffic police who asked him to stop and then four subjects who arrived in a rented pick-up , took him to a house in La Trinidad de Moravia. From that moment, the whereabouts of the businessman is unknown.
On January 11, the Office of the Prosecutor and the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) conducted 11 raids, 10 in Costa Rica and one in Spain, to arrest the suspects and at the same time try to locate the foreigner.
In Spain, the Civil Guard captured the computer engineer, his partner and his mother.
Meanwhile, in Cartago, La Union, Santo Domingo de Heredia, Guadalupe, Moravia, Siquirres and Limón, nine people were arrested. Among them are the uncle and grandmother of the leader of the organization, identified with the last names Vega Aguirre and Aguirre Leal, and three other persons with last names Martínez Chacón, Ford Dowman and Sanabria Abarca. Six months of preventive detention were issued against the five.

Two officers of the Traffic Police, named Jirón López and Medrano Vargas and two other persons Sánchez Gamboa and Rivera Masís, were also apprehended. These four were released, but they must sign once a month in the Court, maintain a fixed address, not leave the country and refrain from communicating with anyone involved in the process.
