Gary has one already and two others are within a 15-minute drive (Highland and East Chicago). Many are in rough areas because they can get the land much cheaper.

Majority of rich people do not gamble frequently. Why? They have no “wow what will I do if I win big” because they already have wealth. Low income people are your repeat customers. The ones who will blow $10k in a year just hoping to win a 10k jackpot. As for race, unfortunately it is not an unknown that black people have the lowest average income here. Thus your local casinos, the “Walmart” casinos will often build near poverty areas.

Obviously high end casinos work differently, for example Encore Boston casino where you have a lot of untouched wealth.

Rivers Casino was built in Schenectady instead of other suburbs of Albany. Place is bleeding money and they wonder why they haven't come close to projections. Nobody wants to go to casinos with ghetto people all around.

there are far more whites that go to them, it’s getting cheap land. Do you think Grosse Point wants a casino? All of the other Michigan casinos are in far better areas, but they are on Indian land and Indian owned.

Harrah's Philly - right off 95, easy parking, everything new, breeze in and out of the casino w/ the track right there. Honestly, that's as good as you're gonna get. Two big thumbs up.

Yeah, Greektown on the weekends especially can be a shit show, because people just go in after the bars and shit. Most don't even play. Actually Greektown just started asking for players cards to enter the casino on certain nights where they feel they'll get that rowdy crowd.
