    Tennessee getting closer?!?
For anyone in the south ...

A bill to allow legal online sports gambling in Tennessee is advancing in the House of Representatives after briefly stalling amid bipartisan concerns.
The legislation, House Bill 1, sponsored by Rep. Rick Staples, D-Knoxville, and the Senate version by Sen. Steve Dickerson, R-Nashville, advanced Tuesday in the House State committee on a 12-5 vote, with one member not voting.
While the original version of the bill allowed for gambling at both brick-and-mortar locations and online, it was previously amended to only permit online sports gambling on websites while users are located in the state of Tennessee.
Several amendments were added to the bill, including one by Rep. Rush Bricken, R-Tullahoma, that requires 5 percent of the privilege tax collected through sports betting to go to the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse specifically for gambling addiction programs and treatment.
Another amendment, brought by Rep. Bob Ramsey, R-Maryville, adds a list of types of people prohibited from making sports wagers — such as the athletes and team owners involved, the people who run sports betting operations and others with influence over a game's outcome — and makes it a misdemeanor if they do cast bets.

Brings sports gambling more into the mainstream, increases the pie so there's more money to be made.

Also increases the options on where to bet which makes it easier for those that don't want to deal with Bitcoin.

Keeps the offshore books in check and competitive.

                          ALMOST HOME ...

Legislation to legalize online sports betting in Tennessee passed Wednesday in the House of Representatives, despite a spirited debate from members worried about the the effects of gambling addiction.
House Bill 1, the first filed this session, would permit online sports gambling in the state, though an amendment to the legislation removed a provision that would allow for betting in brick-and-mortar locations.
It was passed on a vote of 58 to 37.
"I think the legislature is pouring fuel on the addiction issues in our state," said Rep. Andy Holt, R-Dredsen, who is also a vocal opponent of measures to expand alcohol sales.
"I've seen family members who don’t have money to feed their kids because they blew it on stuff like this. If we really want to talk about helping kids, this bill won't do it."
The bill was also approved in the Senate Finance committee on Wednesday and will head to the Senate floor for a vote.

So maybe before the year 2050 the tarheel state will have it as well? I think we were the last state to get the lottery. All the Bible thumping folks think anything other than using extra $$$ for anything other than tithing is work of the devil
We're in what is called the Bible belt so the odds are astronomical that NC ever has one.....unless you want to go play with the Indians in Cherokee.

I live in Tennessee. More progressive than I’d ever thought when I lived in NY. They just hate giving money to the government. Which is why I could see this passing. Decent way to bring in income for the state without taxing their citizens. As much as I love offshore. The older I get and more assets I have I’d rather just do it legally so I hope this goes through. Even if lines are worse and I have to pay taxes if I do really well then whatever.. I just don’t feel like calling attention to myself anymore by using bitcoin and withdrawing / depositing money for from my bank for this stuff. Pretty much everyone who uses bitcoin is on a list somewhere and somebody keepin an eye on you unless you’re real careful IMO. If I was ever audited no clue how I would explain it.

Longer the Governor delays signature , does it mean less chances of signing. I think iowa is also waiting.

The Iowa senate approved the sports betting bill. Betting will be up and running in early 2020.
