The way they play on both sides of the ball is a thing of beauty. Refreshing to see compared to a lot of teams just rolling the ball out, and playing iso ball. This is why experience wins over young talent.

It happens all the time in college basketball. Nobody ever changes their defense coverage based on the time and score. They play help and rotate regardless, and always get burned on 3s when it’s the only shot that can beat you.

If you play up on Jerome and force him to drive (which they did), you let him have an uncontested layup. Then you are up 1, and Virginia has to foul. Make 2 FTs, then up 3 and you foul Virginia for the rest of the game and don’t allow any 3s and you 99.9% win the game.

If Tech had missed the FT, then play straight up defense for 1 possession and win it that way.

The line was razor sharp tonight. The final score did not reflect what actually happened but man, really starting to admire analytics. So many games are coming right near the spread. I know it’s probavly been that way for awhile but feel I’ve just seen it a lot past year or so.
