MLB Lineup Policy Change with BETTING in Mind!
    • Major League Baseball teams will have to send their finalized lineups directly to the Commissioner's Office before disseminating them to the players and media.
    • The change in procedure is an effort "to reduce the risk of confidential information being 'tipped' [to bettors]," according to a statement from the league.

I don't like this secrecy. Line ups should be available to anyone regardless of betting bankroll.

I wonder what the time frame would be??? Have to send it by a certain time?

                    3 hours before game time???

                    4 hours before game time???

                    curious?

Back in the day.... didn't you have to give the umpires the lineup card about an hour before game time?

They say they're doing this for the integrity of the game. How does this change anything with MLB????

It's all for sports books and nothing more. What a joke.

So does this mean lineups will have to be submitted before overnight lines come out a day in advance?

I doubt it, I think managers will submit lineups at the same time they always have, except it will be directly to the commissioner's office. I am not sure how long it will be after that where they can divulge the lineups to the players and the media, but doubt it will be THAT long.

Small potatoes item here for the sports wagering world. 98% of an unexpected lineup change is negligible to the odds with an impact of maybe 10 points on the ML.... sure there are a few now and then that have a much bigger impact.

So if you think you can get this info maybe 30 minutes before the public will make any substantial impact of your overall profitability... I would suggest you are concentrating on the wrong things.

I don't think it has a big impact either way... but I am always very much in favor of less corruption and evening the playing field for the little guys. Yes good news.

i think this is bad news for people who like to model. surely trying to model when mike trout will be held out of the lineup has some value and isn't really hard (might not be really easy either)
