There is no official figure, but if the rumored range is true, that's a nice payday. But how much the lawyers take, and how much taxes take, should be considered. After all, is the money taxable? Plainly yes, unlike the NFL's concussion settlement, where monies were to go to injured players. Most legal settlements are fully taxable as ordinary income, and Kaepernick's settlement would be viewed as lost earnings. The same tax rules apply whether you are paid to settle, win a judgment, or if your dispute only reaches the letter-writing phase.

I'm glad Kap got justice but the real tragedy is his prime as an athlete is being wasted. If Greg Roman wasn't the worst OC in NFL history and/or Harbaugh wasn't so stubborn and should of canned him 2 years prior, Kap would of been a SB champ.

This was yesterday, they also claimed that multiple sources and media outlets know that it’s about that figure so it isn’t just a number they pulled out of the air.

Up to $80m is probably nothing for 32 teams anyway but $10m is just lols.
But the original report of that 80m figure was Bleacher Report? Which aren’t known to be accurate anyway.
Like others have said though I am not surprised the guesses have been completely off because neither party is allowed to comment on this case.

The number is about right whereas let’s say if he found another gig he probably would have been cut early and not lasted the length of the deal. No one was giving him $20m+ a year lol
