This one is predicated on regression to the mean. The Magic have won 5 of their last 6, but does anyone here really think Orlando is all that good? I don't. The Anthony Davis drama is over (temporarily) in N'Awlins so I think this team should start to settle back in a bit. I'll take the short home favorite over the team who's been playing over its head.
Smaller plays for me tonight will include.....
PHILLY -6.5 over Boston. The 76ers starting 5 consists of Embid, Butler, Simmons, Harris, and Reddick. Wow! All of a sudden this team is loaded. And they gave up a lot for Harris. Their time is now. And they've looked good of late, bitch slapping the Lakers and taking down Denver. Next up? The sputtering Celtics who have laid two eggs in a row. Give me the more confident home team with lots of momentum and swagger.
SAN ANTONIO -4.5 over Memphis. The Spurs are no great shakes on the road but they can't afford to let the easy ones get away. They're still fighting for playoff positioning in the tough West. The Griz can barely score, and now the players know this season is toast. Gasol has moved on to greener pastures. Dark days in Memphis.
As always, best of luck
