Basketball tough in that regard. Maybe when a team has let's say a 30 point lead and all of the sudden it's tied...there could be a visible shift of balance of energy on the court but even then the time-outs could allow the team that lead majority of the game to regroup instead of panic and lose the game.

Soccer on the other hand has no time-outs only way they could regroup and get coaching is in the locker-room at half time.
