Brandon Crawford is the Giants’ captain of the infield. The Giants’ grounds crew makes sure to prepare the infield to the Gold Glove shortstop’s specifications.

He is not thrilled at the prospect of the Raiders’ arrival.

“I wouldn’t be the biggest fan,” Crawford said. “We saw what a weekend of rugby did here last year to our field. It was probably in the worst shape I’d ever seen and that was with our grounds crew doing a great job to put it back together.”

“After rugby last year the infield was not in good shape,” Crawford said.

Sources tell ABC7 the Raiders are now in negotiations with Coliseum officials to play in Oakland next season.. It’s the first talks they’ve had since the lawsuit was announced in December

Birmingham is partnering with Tucson, AZ in an effort to host the Raiders for the 2019 season.

Birmingham City Councilman William Parker states the plan will be for each city to split hosting duties.
