your right books dont work but the number one most important thing to even think about pro betting is KNOWLEDGE. Most people I know who claim to be long term winners and pros are people who think they can pick winners and I say that is BS and flawed. I also think number crunchers days are seriously numbered as the markets get sharper and sharper any possibility of "beating the line" is shrinking daily. I would guess 70-80% of line movements big enough to create a profit opportunity are things that bettors have no control over like late scratches of players and or weather condition changes that are not expected when the lines come out and NOT the result of a line that has not come to "true" yet. if lines dont move enough and they essentially stay in the non profit zone from start to finish and the only time they do move enough to show potential profit is not predictive, the days of beating the book are going going damn near gone.Originally posted by jjgold

1-2% of your bankroll per bet, which is the only way to go pro or you'll go bust on a cold run, at $15k would be around $150 or $300 per bet. You'd have to be some kind of savant to win enough to maintain a living from betting. Probably a nice side hustle, though.

true story its 6 figures at least but dont forget the compounding if you can afford to go awhile without taking from your BR, so it can build up. I think if I was going to go exclusive, I would do a blog, tout, book bets and place +EV bets until my roll made it up there where it needs to be. there is a huge demand for a good tout and people are dying for good betting advice. the market is flooded but with garbage good real touts are hard to come by and of course a good blog with facts not hype is always needed. Podcasts are another powerful tool. I know a guy who does a 20 minute radio piece on a local AM channel, he pays the station to do it and charges sponsors he finds for spots on it. a just pure bettor only though needs six figures at least and that is to maintain a very small income if he is +EV overallOriginally posted by xKMACKxComment -
