#358I question Trump's motive. Why? Because the GOP controlled Congress for TWO YEARS
and he never asked for a dime for the wall. He had his chance to get the wall funding and never made
it a priority. Now the Democrats win the House, and he makes it a crisis - when everyone knows they
would be against it... so.... what is the real plan here ? Something else.Comment -

instead, they report what workers he had that are undocumented
you are damn right if i own a business, im going to find the cheapest person to do the job

Its also smart politically because it makes the democrats look weak on border stability, and it rallies his base.Comment -

#361Originally posted by thomorinoTrump always made the wall a priority - you need 60 votes in the Senate to get anything done. Its been 2 years, he knows if he doesn't get the wall done this year it won't get done since democrats are obviously not going to fund the wall in an election year.

now the Republicans lost the House and he pushes the issue to a shutdown - perhaps to a National Emergency, I'm telling you,
it does not wash out. Something stinks.Comment -

#362He’s had 2 years and has built 4 15 foot wide prototypes. If it was the major platform issue he campaigned on, he coulda found donors, etc to get this ball rolling a lot more. Hell, he coulda done it for a publicity stunt during the election. The main issue is funding. And everyone on both sides know the only way that’s gettting done is through tax payers. These dummies should have put wall funding it in the tax reform bill they passed.Comment -

#364From a legal perspective if Trump declares a national emergency to try and build the wall it will end up in the courts and could take a long time to get to the Supreme Court.Comment -

#365Originally posted by thomorinoSnowball Trump obviously wasn't going to shutdown the government when Republicans controlled the House and Senate, that would just make the party look ridiculous.
But perhaps this is not about the wall at all.Comment -

In addition there is the possibility of impeachment and I wonder if a handful of GOP Senators may do that when
presented with a one-shot opportunity .Comment -

#370Trump is asking for $5.7 Billion out of an annual budget of $4.407 Trillion........ Lets put that into perspective. Trump is asking for $57 dollars out of an annual budget of $44,070..... Think about that. Imagine your spouse saying "we're not going back to work, the kids aren't getting their allowances, and no bills are getting paid until you give up the idea of spending $57 dollars to fence in our yard"..... This is what Pelosi and Schumer have halted the government for.Comment -

Same applies to SBR. You can go back close to a decade with some of the legacy posters. This "decades old problem" only became a hair-on-fire crisis when the pied piper of dumb Trump started using the wall (and that it wouldn't cost a dime because Mexico would pay) as his go to rally chant.
FFS - John Kelly even said as much in his exit interview, that the supposed crisis has always just been a political canard for Trump.
Oh...and FWIW - Trump was offered 20 billion previously for his wall as an exchange for a pathway for DACA folks to come out of the shadows and get a path to at least permanent residency.
He turned it down.Comment -

Spare me the "he was busy" bullshit.
If Trump suddenly became anti gun, pro socialist medicine, pro spending cuts for military, you clowns wouldn't think twice about following him.
There are people on here I am opposite of when it comes to politics etc (guitarjosh for one) - who, while I don't agree with them, I absolutely appreciate their opinion and understand they came to their own beliefs through their own life circumstance/education etc.
Folks like you, you're not the guy in tiananmen square waving his hands in front of the tank. You're the guy egging on the driver to mow him down because the dear leader says you should.Comment -

Everyone knows when interest rates are at zero it creates bubbles, the stock market is very different now because rates have risen and the US economy is much stronger than it was during the Obama years.Comment -

Times change. After so many years of politicians declaring the need to do something on the southern borner and admitting a barrier is needed, Trump was the first to finally do something about it. It's getting worse. Not better. Catch and release was about as stupid a policy as sanctuary cities are. Politicians putting illegals ahead their own citizens. How is that allowed to even exist? Because, the MSM is an arm of the democratic party. Plain and simple.
Obama said Obamacare would lower premiums and you could keep your own doctor. Yet, you never mention his lies but never miss a fake news talking point that Trump said Mexico will pay for it. So? Mexico is paying for it indirectly with the new trade deal anyways. Ya it might also be a steel fence rather than a concrete wall. So?
