How much beer do you get? I might be able to make it was a soccer goalie and punter.

I’d make it with 10 yards to spare. That’s with my off leg, otherwise it’d be good from 65, and I’d have NFL GM’s hounding me all week. I just don’t have time for all of that drama.

True, but they dont train year round and rely on kicking FG's as their sole source of income. I would miss 10 out of 10, but goodness kickers seem to be getting worse. Can it be this hard if that's all you do?

It’s been awesome listening to Chicago sports talk radio the last couple of days. The general theme is tough loss but what a great year. Lol, one of 12 remaining teams in a 32 team league and they sound like they are close to having a parade. That tells you how bad the Bears have been for last 30 years.

That is very generous
unless a lot of former small college kickers and soccer players show up. I'd say the avg 20-40 something Chicago guys, kicking off pavement on a shitty winter day for just 1 kick. Would have more then 50% not get the kick above 4 feet and in air longer than 5 yards.
If you can kick a goal kick, free kick or corner kick in soccer you won't need to practice. If you can't don't even bother trying to kick a FG.
There are turf cleats and grass cleats to wear depending on the surface.
I kicked field goals at the College Football HOF here in town wearing jeans and tennis shoes and I was making them so with the right clothes and shoes it will be even easier.
You need to kick the ball with your big toe and kick the ball below maybe an inch or so from the ground. If you kick it too high it won't lift up..it will be like an onside kick.

Running shoes then. Maybe Asics Gel Kayano or equivalent. Something with a good sturdy sole.

I used to be able to kick field goals years ago....a 43 yarder is tougher than people think. I could not do it today.

My personal longest was exactly 43 yards when I kicked it circa 10 years ago in Las Vegas at the UNLV practice field. Obviously I didn't make being a PK a career.
The way this set-up is, it is designed to make fans/contestants miss because the guy who's organizing the event said they are gonna put it on a pavement or whatever, are they going to be able to wear cleats? If just regular jogging or tennis shoes, it's not likely going to help. The cleats make a difference. Maybe just wear cleats on your kicking shoe and the planting foot regular shoes for traction support.

I know several people that have the leg up to 50 yards. I’m sure there are some bs stipulations.

Played college soccer and have been kicking fgs for fun since I was 10. I can drill at least 5-10 50 yarders with a 5 minute warmup. It’s a whole different animal when you get a stress free kick. It’s a lot harder with 8 giant black guys sprinting at you jumping to block it. I’ve kicked 70 yard fgs being able to take a nice lil running start. I feel bad for parkey. Replays showed it was tipped. If I was in Chicago I’d probably do this. Frozen black ice pavement is kinda bull though

Yeah I have not seen anything official yet since goose island announced event on Twitter.
If there are winners I'm thinking free beer for a year will amount to a free pint anytime you visit one of the chicago locations.
They'll do well with publicity if they actually do this.

Adidas Copa Mundial for the shoe on the kicking foot.
If anyone makes it, they won't be able to do it again a year later after all the free beer.

Bartman has been replaced as the most hated man in Chi-Town.
Move over Rover and let Parker take over.
didn't get a chance to kick, there was a line that started at like 7 in the morning and only the first 100 got to kick
had some good brews and laughs while watching about 30 people slip and fall, mostly hitting the fence 10 yards a head of them.
90% of the rest were shanks to the right, no where near long enough.
about 7 that looked decent for a second or two
2 that actually had enough distance but missed to the right.
Had a beer with Mike Golic Jr, who was in a full football uniform. I guess he kicked earlier before the official start and didn't make it.
there was no actual free beer offered anymore as I guess that is not legal. They offered free tickets, airfare, and hotel to any game of the winner's choosing.
